Four Lendu UiTM Students Tested Positive For H1N1

MELAKA, July 12 (Bernama) -- Four Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) students in Lendu, Alor Gajah have been tested positive for the Influenza A(H1N1), Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said.

He said that one of them was being treated at the Melaka Hospital while the three others were under quarantine at the campus' hostel.

"The situation at the Lendu UiTM is under control," he told reporters after attending the opening of the Melaka MCA convention by MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat at Wisma MCA here Sunfay.

Liow said a health team had been stationed at the campus to assess the situation.

"We want to make sure that there will no spreading of the Influenza A(H1N1) virus within the campus... they have taken preventive measures to ensure this," he said, adding that the campus would have to be closed temporarily if there were transmissions detected.

Liow said that the university cooperated fully with the university in handling the case.

The source of infection was still being traced, he added.

Meanwhile, Sekolah Rendah Sultan Sulaiman Satu in Kuala Terengganu has been closed for a week since last Thursday after two of its pupils were tested positive of the virus.

Terengganu Education Director Ariffin Embong said the school would be reopened on Wednesday.

He advised parents not to be unduly worried as the situation was under control.

This is the first closure of schools in Terengganu due to the pandemic.

OMG! now everyone knows where lendu is! dulu masa i kat sana lendu tanak pulak popular macam ni. ciss. i cant imagine how they quarantine themselves at the hostel! mesti mati kutu. hopefully diorang ada broadband so that they can at least communicate with the outside world. tak pun mana tau lendu dah maju ada wifi. wowweeeee.

and ana, awak dah boleh berhenti berharap (macam lagu) h1n1 akan spread dekat kampus bandar k! tak baik tau! hahaha
